Inner City Youth Opportunities Youth Development

ICYO Youth Development

The Youth Development program consists of year-round activities including:

  • Social, cultural, and sports related field trips:
(Cincinnati Museum Center, Omnimax, Krohn Conservatory, Newport Aquarium, Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, Xavier Basketball games Tennis Masters Series, etc. based on exhibits and special community event nights)
  • Monthly educational programs at the Cincinnati Nature Center
  • Summer camp for a select number of children at YMCA Camp Ernst in Burlington, Kentucky sponsored by the law firm of Strauss & Troy and an anonymous donor
  • Kicks For Kids events (Great Outdoor Adventure, Cincinnati Red’s Game, Christmas Celebration, Nutcracker Ballet, Operation North Pole)
  • Christmas parties and gifts for the children provided by:
Frost Brown Todd: Adopt 7 ICYO families through their Hug A Family program Horizon Community Church: Invite all the ICYO children to the Children's Christmas
Play: provide dinner, arts and crafts and Christmas gifts.
Sycamore Jr. High School: donates Christmas stocking candies

This program allows for the children to have experiences beyond their inner city neighborhoods that most families wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford. It allows them to connect socially to children and adults of all economic, cultural and racial backgrounds and provides an extra incentive for the hard work they do after school and on the tennis courts. This helps the children see the value of positive choices and a good education.
